I disagree with the given equation. Aluminum displaces hydrogen only from the acid: 2 Al + 3 H2SO4→Al2(SO4)3 + 3 H2. Alum is KAl(SO4) so it is a sulfate of potassium aluminum together and it contains water of hydration.
